NDIS · Positive Behaviour Support

Every behaviour makes sense to someone.

We dig beneath the surface to understand why, and build support around it — helping people, families, and support teams respond with empathy and confidence.

We believe behaviour doesn't need fixing, it needs understanding.

When someone feels understood, rather than treated as "the problem," that's when change and growth becomes possible.

What is Positive Behaviour Support?

No behaviour happens without a reason. Whether it's a way of coping, a response to something in the environment, or an unmet need, every behaviour is trying to tell us something. That's why positive behaviour support always starts with understanding — not changing. We do this through a functional behaviour assessment: getting to know the person across the environments where the behaviour actually shows up — at home, at school, or in the community. Once we understand what a behaviour is communicating, we can work together to find new, positive ways to meet that same need.

A common misconception is that behaviour support happens in isolation, one-on-one between us and the client. In reality, it works best as a team effort — we work alongside the people already around them: support workers, teachers, therapists, families, and staff. When everyone applies the same strategies across every environment, it creates the safety and predictability that behaviour change relies on.

Because real, lasting change doesn't come from managing behaviour — it comes from understanding what's beneath it.

About

I'm Tayla. I completed my Bachelor of Criminal Justice and have spent 6+ years supporting people with challenging behaviours — starting as a family support worker, then moving into therapeutic support work in the out-of-home care space for two and a half years, before moving into behaviour support for the last three and a half years. I've always been driven by a genuine love of supporting people — understanding what makes something hard for them, and finding ways to make life that little bit easier.

At the heart of it, while a big part of behaviour support is developing a plan, this work is really about the person behind it. I take the time to really listen to families and support networks, because I know strategies can sound great in theory but don't always hold up in real life. My goal is always to make sure the support I provide actually works for your family and the supports around you — not just on paper, but in the everyday moments that matter most.

Understanding, not compliance

Behaviour makes more sense once you understand what's behind it. We take the time to understand a person's history and experiences, and respond with patience and consistency — not control.

Neurodiversity-affirming

Working with, not against

Support should fit the person, not the other way around. We focus on comfort, safety, and genuine wellbeing — respecting how someone experiences the world, rather than trying to change who they are.

Services

Support that goes from assessment through to everyday practice.

Functional Behaviour Assessments

Identifying the triggers, functions and patterns behind behaviours of concern through observation, formal assessment tools, and conversations with the people who know the participant best.

Behaviour Support Plan development

Person-centred, evidence-based plans built around proactive strategies, replacement skill-building, and clear crisis response protocols — written in plain language everyone around the participant can use.

Restrictive practices — monitoring & fading

Where restrictive practices are already in place, we track their use closely, work toward reducing them safely over time, and aim to fade them out altogether wherever possible — always in line with NDIS requirements.

Implementation support

Hands-on coaching for families, carers and support workers, so strategies are applied consistently across home, school and community settings.

Ongoing review & monitoring

Regular check-ins on how the plan is working, with strategies adjusted as the participant's needs and circumstances change.

Telehealth

Remote consultations and coaching for regional families, or anyone who prefers not to have a practitioner in the home.
